TV Dinners: The 84th Annual Academy Awards

The time has come, entertainment junkies, for the greatest night of the year. Oscar Night! The Oscars bring together lovers of movies, fashion, TV, and celebrity gossip for one glorious and interminably long evening. As a child, this was the most exciting television event of my year (except when my cousin came to stay and we would stay up late giggling to SNL sketches about President Clinton that we didn’t quite understand). I even insisted my family watch the Oscars from a hotel room in Paris one year. Everyone fell asleep, but I refused to turn it off until I knew who had won Best Actress. If that just made you nostalgic, you’ll like BGSK’s best of the Best Picture winners’ Oscar buffet.

Now, much like the Super Bowl, the prospect of finger foods is not so secretly what excites me most about an Oscars party. That, and Meryl Streep. So this Sunday, entice your friends over with an Oscars buffet. (Although, because there are now a gillion Best Picture nominees, this is admittedly a lot of food. So invite a lot of people…or pick and choose, based on your favorite movies, of course). And don’t forget your ballots!

**Oscar-Worthy Finger Foods**

Homemade Crackerjacks (Moneyball)

Not-Just-For-Horses Carrot Dip (War Horse)

Oysters With a Champagne-Cucumber Mignonette (Midnight In Paris)

Pineapple Salsa (substitute for peaches) (The Descendants)

Mini French Pizzas (Hugo)

New York Style Pigs In A Blanket (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close)

Minnie’s Chocolate Cream Pie (The Help)

Chocolate Bark (The Tree of Life)

The Classic Gin Martini (The Artist)
