Veggie-Carnivore Labor Day BBQ

Any holiday that’s centered around a grill (read: any holiday during summer), can be tough for vegetarians. Luckily, the grill is also a perfect vehicle for mixing and matching dishes, and for catering to all your guests’ varying dietary constraints. Lactose intolerant? Leave the cheese off a few burgers. In the case of this veggie-carnivore menu, we skip the burgers altogether in favor of a grilled sandwich that will please both crowds. Fire up the grill early in the afternoon and get all your veggies charred and ready for grilled ratatouille. Then make room for a perfect cross-hatch on these gooey and delicious mushroom cheddar melts. Once the veggie fare is out of the way, you can move onto the meat (which you pre-cooked in your oven, yesterday). It being Labor Day and all, nothing fits the bill quite like ribs. No matter which “persuasion” your diet, waiting for the coals to heat up tastes a whole lot better while sipping Vodka Lemonade, and once they cool down, you’ll be ready for cool-down of your own: ice cream sundaes with mocha caramel sauce.
