You may have heard about my TV addiction. But I didn’t want you to think that I only watch elitist NBC shows about smart comedy writers and famous people.
My friends and family members are amazed by how many TV shows I consistently follow, even after they’ve gone bad (doesn’t loyalty count for anything anymore?). Which brings us to: Gossip Girl. Once upon a time, this show was enjoyable. It painted a vision of high schoolers in New York that I never saw, even though I myself was a high schooler in New York. It was the perfect mix of money, sex, fashion, and soap opera drama, with just enough self-awareness to keep me coming back for more. Now, it pretty much has Chuck and Blair. With the exclusion of those two crazy kids, I actively loathe every single other character on screen at any given moment. And yet here I am, still tuning in to its 5th season.
So this week, invite some girl friends over (I don’t know any man who will watch this show but if you’ve found one, congrats!), make some dinner, and try to remember season 2 (aka the good times).

I still have a mild, warm spot (like leaking a pit of piss in the pants) for Dan and just feel good that Jenny is still in rehab. Other than that I want to punch Charlie so hard in the face and I want to push Rufus and his stupid F-ING SHIRTS in front of a crosstown bus. But I like your recipes. And I still watch. So …

Who knew when we sat down to watch the pilot of Gossip Girl in dewolfe 5 years ago (I think it conveniently followed an episode of The Pickup Artist), this is where we’d be? Kudos to you for making GG work for you, and thanks for the regular supply of deliciousness with a side of Lily Bellow wit. It’s good for my soul (unlike Gossip Girl).

I would watch this show with you any time! Especially if you cooked. Senior year, my roommates and I all got very into season one of this show. I think I can point to the exact episode of season two where everything fell apart. The way I’ve rationalized it to myself is the writers must have started their eleven year old nieces write the episodes from there on out.
