After I wrote up a post about my imaginary tea party wedding over on Chevrons & Stripes last week, I started jonesing for some tea sandwiches. Elegant finger food has always been a category I love to cook and eat, not least because it amuses me to imagine myself as a fifties-style hostess presiding over trays of cucumber roll-ups and bright canapés. In modern times, spring strikes me as the season most appropriate for ladylike events like these-you’ll probably be hosting or attending at least one bridal shower, Easter brunch, Derby Day party, or engagement toast. For the spread, you’ll need sweet and pretty dishes as well as food that’s savory and filling. And a drink, preferably one to toast with.
