New Year’s Day Brunch

Okay, if there’s ever a morning when you need to sleep off what happened the night before, it’s probably New Year’s Day. But NYE often doesn’t seem to live up to its hype. So if you’re one of those haters who fears fighting crowds and paying ridiculous covers to get into your everyday bars, or you’re just getting older like us, we suggest staying up until midnight, and then setting your sights on enjoying the next day. It’s a new year, after all. And that means it’s time to celebrate again in some way. For us, this means breakfast with our significant other and a few friends, with dishes that are slightly more decadent than usual. Even if you do stay up far beyond midnight, this breakfast of smoked salmon hash and citrus-y marmalade muffins is so easy you can easily whip it up in your disheveled state. To help, we suggest a nice tall mug of Irish hot chocolate to get you back in shape, and make you glad that you’re not one of those poor souls out there in the cold, searching for a brunch place that actually has seats.
